5v5 flag football play
Flood Rollout
The rollout moves the launch point so coverage has to chase, while three routes stack the right side short to deep. Tell your players: 'QB throws on the move — everyone else hold your depth and give her a clean window.'
How to run it
- 1
QB: gain width for three steps before you turn your shoulders downfield — throwing off a dead run is how balls sail.
- 2
The flat is the rhythm throw: hit C on the move the moment the flat defender hesitates.
- 3
WR1: your cross is the late answer — keep climbing to twelve yards so you arrive just as the QB runs out of sideline.
Who the quarterback reads
- 1. C
- 2. Y
- 3. Z
Rolling right, C's flat route is the first and easiest window the QB sees, and taking it early keeps the offense ahead of the sticks.
The concepts in this play
- Flood
- Send three receivers to one side at three different depths so a zone defense can't cover every level at once — someone is always open.
- Rollout
- The QB moves the pocket toward one sideline. It shortens her read to half the field and adds a run threat if nothing's open.
Who should run it
Developing. Teams with a season together, or middle-school age. A couple of reps to lock the spacing in.
